Black Gold

"Black Gold" is a collection of photos, paintings and other works based on Alberta’s “black gold rush” which continues today. Come in and take a look at these art works that reflect on the impact the oil industry has had on the development of our province and the lives of Albertans. The works of several artists are featured including Paul Bernhardt, Bruno Canadien, Steven Dixon, Judith E. Hall, Leya Russell and Justin Wayne Shaw. These artists shine a spotlight on the oil industry in Alberta presenting personal perceptions of this development and inviting reflection on the diverse and complex environmental and social issues associated with the extraction and use of “black gold”.

The exhibit is put together and organized by the Art Gallery of Alberta for the Alberta Foundation for the Arts Travelling Exhibition Program. This is supported by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and is sponsored by your local library board for your enjoyment.
